Mayor Calugay na pinagdududahang boyfriend ni Alice Guo, humarap sa senado

Mayor Liseldo Calugay, the mayor of Sual, Pangasinan, attended the hearing on Monday.

He was grilled by senators about his involvement with dismissed Bamban mayor Alice Guo.

One of the things that Estrada asked was his absence during the last hearing, where he was accused of merely drinking with friends when in fact, he had dengue.

Calugay then said that the photo was taken before he got sick.

Sen. Joel Villanueva on the other hand asked about whether he and Guo were "lovers in POGO."

It can be recalled that Alice Guo has been brought back to the Philippines for questioning.

Multiple cases were also filed against her in relation to POGO activities in the Philippines.

Alice Leal Guo was the Mayor of the Municipality of Bamban, Tarlac. She won as mayor during the national elections in 2022. She became known nationwide after her name was dragged into the ongoing Senate investigations regarding Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations or (POGO) and the alleged proliferation of illegal immigrants. Her name has been the subject of many online memes since then. She has been dismissed by the Ombudsman.

Earlier, in a screengrab of a video shared by GMA News, Guo was seen wearing a bulletproof vest and helmet as she was brought to the Senate. The video, which was shared on social media by the office of Senator Risa Hontiveros, also showed that Guo is already in the Senate premises. It can be recalled that Sen. Risa last Friday shared a copy of a document showing the court permitting Guo to attend Senate hearings. The dismissed official was arrested in Jakarta, Indonesia last week, turned over to Philippine authorities and brought back to the Philippines.

Recently, Guo also answered the question about Atty. Elmer Galicia, the notary public who notarized her counter-affidavit. The dismissed Bamban mayor confirmed knowing the lawyer in a video shared by GMA News. "Kilala," she described the notary, without further elaborating on the depth of their being an acquaintance. Alice was brought back to the Philippines after DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos and PNP Chief Rommel Marbil flew to Indonesia to secure her custody.
