Alice Guo, personal na pinagsabihan ni Senator Joel Villanueva: “Na-offend po kami”

Alice Guo was reprimanded personally by Senator Joel Villanueva in the ongoing hearing of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality chaired by Sen. Risa Hontiveros.

In a video streamed live by the Senate, one can see Sen. Joel venting out his frustration against Guo.

In his opening statement where Guo was in attendance, Sen. Joel said the dismissed official insulted the entire government.

“Binastos mo at binalahura mo ang buong gobyerno, ang buong sambayanang Pilipino,” Sen. Joel said in his statement.

The legislator also expressed his frustration at the fact that when Guo was arrested, Sen. Joel said it would seem to him that she didn’t show any concern at all.

“Hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit nung nahuli ka, parang walang-wala sa’yo,” the legislator said.

Senator Joel then ended his opening statement by saying he and his colleagues were offended by her.

“Na-offend po kami,” Sen. Joel concluded in his opening statement.

Alice Leal Guo was the Mayor of the Municipality of Bamban, Tarlac. She won as mayor during the national elections in 2022. She became known nationwide after her name was dragged into the ongoing Senate investigations regarding Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations or (POGO) and the alleged proliferation of illegal immigrants. Her name has been the subject of many online memes since then. She has been dismissed by the Omnbudsman.

Earlier, in a screengrab of a video shared by GMA News, Guo was seen wearing a bulletproof vest and helmet as she was brought to the Senate. The video, which was shared on social media by the office of Senator Risa Hontiveros, also showed that Guo is already in the Senate premises. It can be recalled that Sen. Risa last Friday shared a copy of a document showing the court permitting Guo to attend Senate hearings. The dismissed official was arrested in Jakarta, Indonesia last week, turned over to Philippine authorities and brought back to the Philippines.

Recently, Guo also answered the question about Atty. Elmer Galicia, the notary public who notarized her counter-affidavit. The dismissed Bamban mayor confirmed knowing the lawyer in a video shared by GMA News. "Kilala," she described the notary, without further elaborating on the depth of their being an acquaintance. Alice was brought back to the Philippines after DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos and PNP Chief Rommel Marbil flew to Indonesia to secure her custody.
