Alice Guo, isiniwalat ang umano'y rason kung bakit siya umalis sa Pilipinas

Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, whose real name is Guo Hua Ping, shared with Philippine authorities the alleged reason why she fled the country.

In a press conference following their arrival from Indonesia early Friday morning, Department of the Interior and Local Government Benhur Abalos stated that Guo purportedly escaped because she feared for her life.

“Sabi ni Alice natatakot sya sa buhay nya kaya sya umalis sa bansa,” said Abalos.

“Sabi natin sabihin mo lahat at poproteksyunan ka ng police,” the Interior secretary further aired. “Importante malaman natin ang totoo.”

Guo then confirmed Abalos’ statement in the same press conference, adding that she feels safe with the authorities around her.

“Kino-confirm ko po ang lahat po ng sinabi ni Sec. na mayroon po kong death threats po at humingi po ako ng tulong po sa kanila at masaya din po ako na nakita ko sila. I feel safe po, maraming maraming salamat po,” said Guo.

Alice Leal Guo is the Mayor of the Municipality of Bamban, Tarlac. She won as mayor during the national elections in 2022. She became known nationwide after her name was dragged into the ongoing Senate investigations regarding Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations or (POGO) and the alleged proliferation of illegal immigrants. Her name has been the subject of many online memes since then.

Guo Hua Ping, also known as Alice Guo, was arrested in Indonesia. Sen. Win Gatchalian, in a social media post, announced that the dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor was arrested in Tangerang City, Jakarta. In a message sent to GMA News, Gatchalian said Guo was nabbed at 1:30 AM on September 4, 2024 and she is currently in the custody of the Indonesian Police. The news was also confirmed by NBI Director Jaime Santiago, according to ABS-CBN News.

Alice Guo’s sister, Shiela Guo, is now at the Senate detention facility. She arrived at the facility on August 26 after the National Bureau of Investigation transferred custody to the Senate Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms, as per the Philippine star. According to PTV, Shiela also underwent inventory and medical test. It can be recalled that Shiela and Cassandra Li Ong were nabbed in Indonesia and brought back to the Philippines last August 22.
