President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has issued a statement following the arrest of Alice Guo in Indonesia.
In a video message aired on Wednesday, the president underscored several points, stating that the arm of the law is long and that it will be reaching those who evade arrest.
"The arm of the law is long and it will reach you."
He also emphasized that the arrest of Guo would serve as a warning.

Marcos also noted that the resolution of the case will not be prolonged.
"But we will not allow this to prolong the resolution of the case, whose outcome will be a victory for the Filipino people."
Alice Leal Guo is the Mayor of the Municipality of Bamban, Tarlac. She won as mayor during the national elections in 2022. She became known nationwide after her name was dragged into the ongoing Senate investigations regarding Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations or (POGO) and the alleged proliferation of illegal immigrants. Her name has been the subject of many online memes since then.
Guo Hua Ping, also known as Alice Guo, has been arrested in Indonesia. Sen. Win Gatchalian, in a social media post, announced that the Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor was arrested in Tangerang City, Jakarta. In a message sent to GMA News, Gatchalian said Guo was nabbed at 1:30 AM on September 4, 2024 and she is currently in the custody of the Indonesian Police. The news was also confirmed by NBI Director Jaime Santiago, according to ABS-CBN News.
Alice Guo’s sister, Shiela Guo, is now at the Senate detention facility. She arrived at the facility on August 26 after the National Bureau of Investigation transferred custody to the Senate Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms, as per the Philippine star. According to PTV, Shiela also underwent inventory and medical test. It can be recalled that Shiela and Cassandra Li Ong were nabbed in Indonesia and brought back to the Philippines last August 22.
