A Batangas father met an untimely death who just wanted to earn selling “goto” even amid heavy rains.

Goto is a type of congee loved by many Filipinos.

In a report by GMA News, the said father, identified only as “Virgilio” and living in Nasugbu, Batangas, met a freak accident while selling “goto.”

According to a witness, he found the body of the 46-year-old “Virgilio” lodged between his motorcycle and sidecar where he stores the condiments and containers holding the congee.

His wife, identified only as “Tina,” expressed disbelief at what happened to her husband.

She said Virgilio is a kind and hardworking man whom her family depends on.

Tina said she had wanted Virgilio to suspend selling “goto” if only for a day because of the heavy downpour, however, he just waited for the rain to abate a bit so he could go out and sell.

“Ang lakas kako ng ulan pero sabi niya, 'hindi mamaya pagtila ako'y aalis na’,” Tina said.

It can be recalled that typhoon Carina caused a lot of locations in the Greater Manila Area to be submerged in floodwaters and also affected many nearby areas.

The typhoon also brought with it strong winds that toppled trees and electric poles.

News, photos or videos that arouse the interest of netizens would often go viral on social media. These viral posts appeal to the emotions of netizens, and in rare cases, such could also happen to ordinary people.

Meanwhile, a retired soldier also died at the height of typhoon Carina after he tried to save their home belongings in Pasay City. The soldier was found unresponsive by rescuers and they tried to bring him to a hospital. However, he was later declared dead, as per GMA News. He was trying to move their things away from floodwaters that already reached the first floor of their home.

The floodwaters brought about by typhoon Carina was so strong that it swept away an entire house in Valenzuela on July 24. In a video uploaded by Christian A. Patron and shared by GMA news, one can see the exact area where the house was swept away was in Cam-CAm Village. Based on the report, the uploader said that the flood has receded in their area and the cat perched on top of the roof as seen in the video is fine.
