The video of a heartwarming birthday surprise of a Pinoy nurse based in Canada for her mother who recently turned 50 years old has gone viral.
The said video was posted on the “X” page of GMA Integrated News, which also provided some background information on the mother and her daughter, Pinay nurse Stacy Claire Peraña.
The GMA report, quoting Peraña’s sister, said that the OFW has been working in Canada for six years now and hasn’t been able to go home to the Philippines during that time.
On the 50th birthday of her mother, Peraña decided to give her mom a huge surprise by attending in person.

The GMA report revealed that the Pinay nurse kept the secret for a long time, having booked her ticket in February of this year.
In the video, one can see the elder Peraña preparing to snuff out the candle on her cake, albeit with a sad look, perhaps because her OFW daughter isn’t there with her.
Little did she know that her daughter was crouching behind one of the seats in the beach cottage where she celebrated her birthday.
When it was time to snuff out the candle, the elder Peraña heard someone behind her say “Mama!”
She turned and on seeing her daughter, she jumped up and down, crying and asking why is her daughter there.
“Ba’t andito ka?” the Peraña amid tears of joy said, adding that she thought she would never come home.
“Uuwi talaga ako, siyempre birthday nyo po,” Stacy told her mom, who still can’t believe her beloved daughter is there beside her.
Posts, such as photos or videos, that arouse the interest of netizens would often go viral on social media. These viral posts appeal to the emotions of netizens, and in rare cases, such could also happen to ordinary people.
One of such posts was about a Pinay caregiver who has been given due recognition by the Israeli government for her heroism, GMA News reported. At the height of the Hamas attack, she and her ward were caught in its midst. When a Hamas fighter came at their place, she did not think twice about giving him her savings. This saved her and her ward from being killed by the Hamas.
An example of a video post that has gone viral is that of PCol Jaime Santos of the Las Piñas City Police Station. The video he shared, showed a guy who came to the police station and reported that his mobile phone worth 10K was stolen. However, he also managed to grab the key to the thief’s motorcycle and seize the same, which is why the vehicle is with him. According to PCol Santos, he decided to go live so people would see that some of those they see on TikTok happen in real life.
