Bayani "BF" Flores Fernando has passed away on Friday, September 22. He was 77 years old.
According to Daily Tribune, Fernando was rushed to a hospital in Quezon City after accidentally falling from the roof of his house.
The government official’s wife, Marides Fernando, later confirmed his death, Super Radyo DZBB reported.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) also confirmed the heartbreaking news in a social media post. It also paid tribute to Fernando citing his contributions to the government agency.
Based on his profile published by ABS-CBN, Fernando earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from the Mapua Institute of Technology. He was the founder of the BF Group of Companies, which is involved with construction, steel, manufacturing, and real estate.
Fernando was a three-term City Mayor of Marikina who served the NCR local government unit from 1992 to 2001. Under his leadership, Marikina's status was elevated from a 4th class municipality to a model Philippine city accorded with 55 citations and distinctions.
Following his term as the local chief ended, Fernando was placed as Chairman of the MMDA.
In 2023, the government official became secretary for Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) under the Arroyo administration.
Aside from Fernando, a former government official also passed away recently. Former Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Martin Diño died last August 8 following a battle with cancer, his daughter Liza Diño-Seguerra announced.
In a Facebook post, Diño-Seguerra said his father peacefully died while surrounded by loved ones. Diño-Seguerra also expressed heartfelt gratitude to those offering their prayers.
Earlier, Diño-Seguerra posted about his father, who was in critical condition due to stage 4 cancer. She shared a photo that showed her mother holding hands with her dad in a hospital. According to Diño-Seguerra, the photo reflects an emotional journey filled with years of hurt, healing, and forgiveness.
