Sen. Leila de Lima is a Philippine senator, who is an open critic of the present administration of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. She has been in jail since 2017. It was alleged that the senator used dr*g money for her campaign in 2016.

De Lima took to social media to express her gratitude to Sen. Manny Pacquiao for joining in the call to release her from detention. The lady senator has been in detention for more than five years after being accused of involvement in illegal substances. Sen. Leila has vehemently denied the charges, which she attributed to the alleged vindictiveness of some political personalities. She said that the cases filed against her were all fabricated.

Rafael Ragos, former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) OIC and the star witness during the hearing of Sen. Leila de Lima retracted his previous statement. Ragos was co-accused and was then made a key witness on record for the prosecution. The former BuCor OIC said that there was no truth to any of the affidavits or court testimonies he gave. He specifically mentioned those pertaining to the alleged delivery of monies to then Sec. De Lima or Ronnie Dayan.
