Sen. JV Ejercito slammed those who keep on using “wangwang” and blinkers on the road even if they’re not among those authorized to use said devices.
In an interview over Super Radyo DZBB quoted by GMA News’ 24 Oras, the legislator said that many are again using the devices, including private citizens.
“Napakarami, napansin ko pati local officials at ibang mga, ewan ko lang kung cabinet secretaries 'yung iba, hindi ko alam. Pero marami ring private citizen,” Sen. JV said.

He is advocating for the prohibition of the same unless otherwise used by authorized persons and agencies.
“Dapat ibalik na lang natin sa dati kung sino lang ang entitled... saka sa totoo lang, nakakagulo lalo ng traffic ho 'yan,” the legislator added.
In a previous post on Twitter, Sen. JV called on PBBM to prohibit the use of blinkers, “wangwang” and escorts with similar devices.
“Sana ipagbawal ni PBBM mga naka blinkers, wangwang at may mga escorts na nakawangwang,” Sen. JV wrote.
“As far as I know only the President, VP, Senate President, Speaker and SC Justice entitled to motorcycle escort convoy,” he wrote further, adding that similar prohibitions have been already done during the time of President Noynoy Aquino.
Presidential Decree no. 96, which was signed on January 13, 1973 by PBBM's father, former President Ferdinand Marcos, makes it unlawful the attachment or use of sirens or wangwangs, horns, whistles, and other gadgets that emit loud sounds, except by those authorized by law.
The PD also makes it illegal for unauthorized persons or offices to use domelights and other flashing or signaling devices on motor vehicles.
Then President also specifically mentioned in the decress that only vehicles designated for official use by the AFP, NBI, LTO, police, fire bureau, and hospital ambulances, are allowed to use such devices.
Joseph Victor Gomez Ejercito, more popularly known as JV Ejercito, is a Filipino politician. He is the son of former president Erap Estrada. He also served as a senator of the Philippines from 2013 to 2019.
Last June, the senator took to Facebook and expressed his anger over the RAV-4 driver who ran over a security guard in Mandaluyong. The senator said that he will give a reward of P50,000 to those who could give info on the said driver. He called the driver evil and an idiot, describing the act as "purposely ran over a traffic enforcer." JV also gave the details of the car, along with the plate number.
The legislator also took to Twitter to again air his sentiments over the case of the SUV driver who ran over a security guard in Mandaluyong. The senator said that the suspect, Jose Antonio Sanvicente needed to pay the consequences of his actions. He added that prison time would be a good chance for the suspect to reform. The senator added that the SUV driver also had a history of stabbing an older person due to a traffic altercation.
