The son of Sonia Gregorio, the old woman who was shot point blank by former police officer Jonel Nuezca in Paniqui, Tarlac, revealed his thoughts on the news of the death of the ex-police officer.
In a report by ABS-CBN, Mark Gregorio, said that they are having doubts as to whether it is really true that Jonel Nuezca has died.

Mark said that even if there was a picture and it was also all over the news, his reaction was that he does not really believe it. He also stated that even his father does not believe it.
In fact, the issue, according to the report, divided the family of Gregorios since there are those who say he's dead and there are those who say otherwise.

"Kahit po sabihin na may picture at nabalita na sa TV, ang reaction ko po...Kahit si papa, hindi po naniniwala. Kahapon po kasi kahit sino magsabi sa amin, hindi talaga kami naniniwala," Mark said.
He even stated that it could just be "palabas" to get him out of prison.
A report by PhilStar stated that Gabriell Caclag, the spokesperson of BuCor, confirmed the death of the ex-policeman.
On the other hand, Manila Bulletin reported that he died in the Bilibid prison.
Sen. Bato dela Rosa was interviewed by ANC regarding the current crisis faced by PNP. The senator said that he initially did not want heinous crimes, like murder, in the provision for the death penalty, but the Paniqui shooting incident changed his perception. According to him, crimes committed by abusive cops should be considered for the death penalty. He is also convinced that Jonel Nuezca deserves to be punished with the death penalty.
Neil Perez expressed his support for the Philippine National Police on social media. He posted an art card with a message that not all cops killed the Gregorio victims. The netizens found his post insensitive and bashed the pageant titleholder. Comments on his post involved telling Neil to admit that police brutality exists.
Jonel Nuezca was described by Sonia Gregorio’s husband as an arrogant neighbor. The barangay captain revealed that the two families were in constant conflict. She added that the problem started when the Nuezcas bought a piece of land from the Gregorios and they accused the latter of scamming them. It was brought to court and, in the end, the Gregorios won the case against the Nuezcas.
