- Neil Perez expressed his support for the Philippine National Police on social media
- He posted an art card with a message that not all cops killed the Gregorio victims
- The netizens found his post insensitive and bashed the pageant titleholder
- Comments on his post involved telling Neil to admit that police brutality exists
Neil Perez defended the Philippine National Police with a post reminding the public that not all law enforcers are criminals—and this was not taken positively by netizens.
On December 21, the Mister International 2014 who now serves as a police officer himself, posted on Instagram an art card showing an image of a policeman with a message “hindi kaming lahat ang pumatay sa kanya – uniporme at tsapa.”
Neil’s intention was to remind the people that not all police officers are abusive. This was in connection with the recent shooting incident in Paniqui, Tarlac that involved a police officer.
However, netizens found Neil’s post to be insensitive. The pageant titleholder received negative comments. Here are some of them:
“Nakakapang diri ka. Ni walang pasintabi sa mga kinatay ng kabaro mo. Pag defend kaagad ang inuna mong gawin. You’re disgusting. (emojis)”
“Hindi naman generalized para sa lahat ng pulis yung thoughts nang nakararami. Pero sana use your voice too on condemning the killings.”
“I'm sorry Neil pero itong mga post na to ang reason why wala ng accountability from your ranks. Acknowledge that there's brutality from the police force. Para may clear na cleansing sa inyo.”
“But still, police brutality exists and you guys are not doing something about it. Insensitive ng post mo.. (emoji)”
“imbes ipost mo ang picture ng mag ina na naghahanap ng hustisya..you are here posting to make linis the name ng pnp..WALA KAMING SINABING KAYO PUMATAY LAHAT.”
“But police brutality exist sir I think it's insensitive to post like this after the incident. Oo not everyone abuse their power. But since this administration tolerate killings and violence policemen are using it as an excuse to run away...”
Neil Perez is a Filipino model, actor, and male beauty pageant titleholder. He won Mister International 2014 in Seoul, South Korea. He is now a police officer and is assigned at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Paranaque City.
Neil is not the only one who got bashed by netizens for airing out opinions regarding the shooting incident involving police officer Jonel Nuezca. A while ago, Joel Villanueva was slammed by Robin Padilla for his comments about police impunity. The police chief of Bato, Catanduanes was even relieved from his position after the municipality mayor complained about his stand on the issue.
