"Well, hindi kami pabor sa 50/50 because ang lalaki sa Pinas mahina na eh, kasi overly mothered... By saying 'I agree to 50/50,' my expectations of you as a leader, protector, and provider, slash na 50%. So binaba mo ng kalahati yung expectation sa leadership, protection, at provision ng isang lalaki."

Richard shared that over their years of hearing other people's stories, they have repeatedly heard stories from wives whose equal partnerships eventually turned completely one-sided:

"Pag tumatagal, nagsu-sumbong yung mga tao na, 'RM, dati 50/50 kami. Ngayon after 15 years, 80/20 na.' Yung iba naman, '100% ako na.' We have not seen maraming examples or success stories na 50/50 ang dulo lalaki nagpo-provide."

According to Richard, reducing the demands on a man early on often leads to complacency rather than long-term teamwork.

Weighing in from a wife's perspective, Maricar explained how a woman's natural patience often leads to burnout under this arrangement:

"Ang babae kasi naturally matiisin, naturally sasaluhin'yung mga mali. So eventually hindi na yan 50/50, magiging on the losing end talaga yung babae."

Maricar also challenged women to look closely at their own role in establishing these expectations right from the start:

"And in a way you have to admit, mga girls... Yung mga girls na nag-aagree sa 50/50, kayo rin in a way ang cause nung paghihirap niyo down the road kasi you're already making the expectation lower... Kung minindset niyo na from the start na lagi mong sasaluhin, forever kang may sasaluhin."
