The Kapuso actress opened up about the issue during an episode of Trggrd after photos and videos of her spending time with Elijah at a public market circulated online.

The footage quickly drew attention and fueled speculation about the nature of their relationship. According to Thea, she and Elijah initially did not expect the circulating video to become such a major topic of discussion until they returned to Manila and saw how widely it had spread.

Thea explained that screenshots taken from the footage may have contributed to assumptions about her and Elijah. She said that looking only at certain images could give people the impression that there was something romantic between them, but she maintained that they have simply been friends for years.

The actress also directly addressed accusations that she may have been involved in another person's relationship.

"I've never cheated on anyone. I've never been the third party in any relationship to my knowledge."

Thea acknowledged that she understood why some supporters of Elijah and Miles Ocampo felt strongly about the situation. She said she recognized how invested fans could become after following two celebrities and their relationship over the years.

However, she firmly maintained that she would never intentionally come between two people in a relationship.

Thea became emotional while speaking about the names and accusations directed at her online. She said the experience was particularly painful because her parents also saw the comments being made about her.

"Gets ko. Gets ko 'yung pain ng mga fan. But also, I hope that you could- naiiyak tuloy ako. Like, I also hope that you could give me a little bit of grace, like to see the things that I'm being called on the internet kind of hurts too. Like to be called like kabit or malandi. And just to see also my parents' reactions to seeing some of the comments, parang I also feel hurt for them. To see that I'm being called these names when it's not true."

Before speaking publicly about the issue, Thea said she initially preferred to remain silent and hoped that the controversy would eventually fade on its own.

However, she admitted that the experience taught her that there are moments when speaking up may be necessary.

Thea's statement comes after she found herself dragged into speculation surrounding Elijah, with the actress now making her position clear amid the controversy.

Thea Astley (1925–2004) was a acclaimed Australian author and educator known for her sharp wit and vivid depictions of small-town Queensland life. Over a distinguished literary career, she published over a dozen novels and became a four-time winner of the prestigious Miles Franklin Literary Award.
