Topacio documented the unexpected reunion in a Facebook post on Friday, August 21, where he uploaded two photos showing him embracing and kissing Diaz. The affectionate interaction quickly caught the attention of social media users, particularly because the two had previously exchanged criticisms in public.
In his post, Topacio directly confirmed that they had already reconciled.
“Bati na po kami ni Ogie Diaz. Mwa mwa chup chup! ”

He followed the announcement with another playful remark about their interaction.
“Oh say niyo? Sweet diba?“
The photos immediately generated a wide range of reactions from netizens. While some appeared to welcome the reconciliation and emphasized the importance of keeping personal relationships separate from political disagreements, others remained skeptical about the two making peace.
Some commenters criticized the public display of affection, while others questioned whether the reconciliation was genuine. There were also comments referencing the political differences between the two personalities.
Their past conflict dates back to July 2020, when Diaz appealed to the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) regarding remarks made by Topacio about actress Angel Locsin.
At the time, Diaz shared a quotation graphic featuring Topacio’s photo. The graphic contained a remark mocking the title of Locsin’s television show and making a comment about her weight.
Diaz expressed his disappointment over the statement and called on the IBP to address what he considered inappropriate behavior from one of its members.

“Kastiguhin nyo na lang po ang bastos nyong miyembro. Otherwise, talaga lang tino-tolerate nyo ang ganitong uri ng abogado.”
Aside from their previous disagreement, Topacio and Diaz have also been associated with opposing political camps. Diaz has openly supported former Vice President and current Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo, while Topacio has been identified as a Duterte Diehard Supporter.
Despite those differences, their latest public interaction suggests that the two have chosen to move past their previous conflict, at least on a personal level. Their unexpected reunion has since become a topic of discussion among social media users.
Ferdinand "Ferdie" Topacio is a high-profile Filipino defense attorney, media personality, and managing partner of Topacio Law Office, known for representing controversial public figures and prominent politicians. Beyond his legal practice, he is an active movie producer, columnist, and vocal commentator, though his career has frequently drawn widespread controversy and Supreme Court scrutiny for making sexist and degrading public remarks targeting women.
In another report, prosecutors in Makati City dismissed the complaints for cyberlibel, cyber unjust vexation, and gender-based online sêxual harassment that Jasmine Curtis-Smith filed against lawyer Ferdinand Topacio. The resolution found that the evidence submitted did not meet the standard needed to establish a prima facie case with a reasonable likelihood of conviction. Prosecutors also characterized Topacio’s statements as commentary concerning a public figure and an issue of public interest. They further noted that while statements may be offensive, they do not automatically constitute a legal offense without evidence of actual malice or an intention to inflict psychological harm.
Meanwhile, Anne Curtis spoke about the controversy by stressing the importance of accountability and respect in how men treat women. Although she did not accept the apology involved in the incident, she also expressed compassion for the lawmaker’s family. Anne described the emotional weight of what happened while acknowledging the strong support she received from the public. She encouraged men to be willing to listen, examine their actions, offer genuine apologies when necessary, and speak out when they witness misogynistic behavior.
