Nacino made the revelation during his conversation with Boy Abunda on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” where he opened up about the possibility of pursuing a political career. The actor said he had already been approached about running and had also communicated his interest to several people.
“Muntik na. May nagyaya na rin. Nagbigay rin po ako ng intensyon. May mga kinausap din po bilang options din ba, pero pinili ko pa rin ang showbiz,” Nacino said.
Had he proceeded with the plan, Nacino explained that he was not looking to immediately take on a major political position. Instead, he wanted to begin from the lowest level and gradually work his way into public service.

“I wanted to start at the bottom lang naman,” he said.
His plans were centered on areas close to his professional background and personal interests. Nacino said he wanted to develop programs related to sports and medical concerns while also finding ways to help the community.
“At makapaglatag ng mga programs siguro for sports, anything medical dahil nga linya ko po ‘yun, and anything to help, kumbaga. Nakita ko kasi ‘yung potensyal po ng Antipolo, marami pa pong pwedeng ibigay. So baka bilang doon na ako nakatira, baka makatulong din ako,” he shared.
Despite having a clear idea of what he wanted to accomplish, Nacino eventually decided that now was not the right time to enter politics. One major consideration was his growing list of opportunities in the entertainment industry.
“’Yung dami ng proyekto na mawawala sa akin po. So parang sayang kasi may pamilya na ako, and maisasantabi muna ‘yan,” he explained.
The actor also noted that his career could potentially take him beyond the Philippines, making the decision even more significant.
“For some reason, nabibigyan ako ng mga audition for projects abroad. So kung mangyari po ‘yun, ibang klaseng window na po mabubuksan kapag matuloy po ‘yun,” he added.
For now, Nacino appears focused on exploring those opportunities in showbiz, particularly the possibility of landing international projects.
His decision, however, does not mean that he is against celebrities pursuing political careers. Nacino said he could understand both sides of the discussion, but stressed that public service requires serious preparation.
“Disagree and can agree, dahil nga kung kulang ang puhunan sa kaalaman sa public service ay huwag muna. Dapat pinaghahandaan kasi ‘yung trust ng mga tao nasa inyo, kayo magli-lead. So dapat mayroon kayong mga bala,” he said.
For Nacino, entering politics is ultimately a responsibility that should not be taken lightly, especially because voters place their trust in those they elect. For now, he has chosen to keep building his career in entertainment while leaving the possibility of public service for another chapter of his life.
Rocco Nacino is a multi-award-winning Filipino actor, registered nurse, and military reservist who rose to fame as the Second Prince of GMA's StarStruck V in 2009. A staple lead actor for GMA Network, he is best known for his roles in major television series such as Encantadia, the Philippine adaptation of Descendants of the Sun, and Maria Clara at Ibarra.
In another report, Rocco Nacino candidly discussed his struggles with body confidence during an interview with Boy Abunda. The Kapuso star admitted that he has thought about having his búttocks reduced in size. He shared that his wife, Melissa Gohing, questioned his desire to alter a feature that many people might actually view positively. While he continues to deal with the insecurity, Rocco said he is gradually becoming more comfortable with his appearance.
Meanwhile, Rocco Nacino shared that his commitment to his role in Hari ng Tondo came with the difficult decision to pass on several acting opportunities because of the hairstyle required for the character. He noted that even some international productions were prepared to make adjustments, although he ultimately had to let certain projects go. Rocco is currently embracing his portrayal of a merciless syndicate boss who is set to go up against Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid in the upcoming action-drama series.
