During her visit, she saw an evacuation facility that had itself been affected by floodwaters despite being intended to serve as a safe place for displaced residents. The former Miss Earth Philippines used the experience to encourage Filipinos to be more careful when choosing leaders in the 2028 elections. Joy connected informed voting with the need for better solutions to recurring flooding and the difficulties faced by communities affected by it.
