Awra Briguela is opening up about the lingering impact of one of the most challenging chapters in her life.

Taking to her official Instagram account @awrabriguela, the actress posted a multi-slide statement detailing her inner journey over the past three years following her 2023 arrest and the eventual dismissal of her case.

Awra acknowledged that forgiving herself and moving forward was a long, painful process due to the attacks.

"Mahigit tatlong taon na ang lumipas, pero hanggang ngayon pakiramdam ko hindi niyo pa rin ako pinapakawalan sa pagkakamaling nagawa ko noon," Awra wrote. "Inamin ko ang pagkakamali ko at ginawa ko ang aking responsibilidad kong humingi ng tawad," she added.

In an effort to fix her life, Awra shared that she focused on returning to her studies and completing her Senior High School education. However, even milestones like her graduation were overshadowed by persistent online harassment, misgendering, and hurtful slurs, such as being called "Bronny James" on social media.

Opening up about her recent social media interactions, Awra admitted that receiving constant insults daily took a toll on her, creating a trauma response where she felt she needed to defend herself aggressively.

"Hindi ko na rin maintindihan kung saan nanggagaling ang sobrang galit ng ibang tao sa akin. Sa loob ng ilang taon, pinili kong manahimik. Hindi ko pinatulan ang masasakit na salita, ang pambabastos, at ang panghuhusga. Pero ngayong taon, napagdesisyunan kong magsalita."

Closing her statement, Awra emphasized that she is not asking the public to erase what happened, but rather to judge her by how she chose to recover and grow as a person after the 2023 incident she was involved in.
