Ogie Alcasid expressed his admiration for SB19 after the P-pop group delivered a historic performance at Lollapalooza 2026 in Chicago.

In a post on X, the singer-songwriter kept his reaction short but enthusiastic.
“Hail SB 19!!!” he wrote.
The message was posted after Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin took the Allianz Stage at Grant Park on July 30 in Chicago. Their performance aired early on July 31 in the Philippines because of the time difference.

Ogie did not add a longer explanation to his post. Still, his three-word message clearly showed his support for the group and its latest international achievement.
SB19 became the first homegrown Filipino act to perform at the Chicago edition of Lollapalooza. The milestone placed the group among more than 170 artists appearing across eight stages during the four-day music festival, according to the official Lollapalooza website.
During their nearly hour-long set, the P-pop stars opened with “DAM” before performing “GENTO,” which featured a new dance break.
They also gave the first live performance of their newly released song “LAWLESS.” The quintet followed it with “EMOJI,” combining powerful vocals with demanding choreography, as reported by GMA News.
Another special part of the set came when the members gave the audience a preview of their rendition of “MGA KABABAYAN.” The track is included in the soundtrack of the upcoming animated film Forgotten Island.
The members also spoke to the crowd between performances. They thanked those who watched them at the venue, as well as Filipino fans who followed the event through livestreams and watch parties back home.
One of the official watch parties was held at the Rizal Park Open Air Auditorium in Manila. Other gatherings were organized in Pampanga, Bacolod, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Pasig, and Cebu.
Before the festival, the group discussed the meaning of the opportunity in a report aired on 24 Oras. Pablo said their long-term goal has been to bring Filipino music to more listeners around the world.
The group also said it wanted to represent Filipino music and culture through the performance. For SB19, the festival appearance was not only a career achievement but also an opportunity to introduce more international listeners to P-pop.
Regine Velasquez remains one of the most respected and influential artists in the Philippine music scene. Dubbed Asia’s Songbird, she first gained national attention after winning Ang Bagong Kampeon in 1984. She later launched a successful recording career with her debut album, paving the way for decades of chart-topping success. Known for iconic songs like Narito Ako, Pangako, Love Me Again, and Araw Gabi, she has also made her mark as a host and mentor in various television programs.
In another development, Regine Velasquez was named Woman of the Year at the Billboard Philippines Women in Music 2026, recognizing her enduring contributions to Original Pilipino Music. The award highlighted not only her vocal prowess but also her influence in shaping the local music industry and promoting Filipino talent globally. She received the honor alongside other prominent artists, including KZ Tandingan, Yeng Constantino, BINI, and G22.
Earlier, Velasquez opened up about experiencing anxiety during recent performances, including her collaboration with Josh Groban in Manila. While she described the opportunity as exciting, she admitted that it also came with overwhelming nerves. Supporters quickly expressed encouragement, reminding her that vulnerability does not diminish her artistry. Despite these challenges, she continues to stay active in the industry and is expected to release new music following her 2024 album Reginified.
