For the veteran musician, the mere acknowledgment of his silver screen contributions felt entirely surreal.

"What an incredible blessing... Last year was really the first time in my career I was entrusted with significant roles in films of this magnitude... As such, I already found it unfathomable to get nominations for 2 different disciplines 🤯 - one for acting (Manila’s Finest), another for musical scoring (Sunshine)," Rico bared openly.

Rico candidly revealed that diving headfirst into major cinema productions wasn't just a career move, but a deeply personal effort to heal and navigate a heavy, uncertain phase in his life which he shared online.

"To actually receive an award was beyond my wildest dreams. Truth be told, I was going through a challenging time, and decided to accept acting projects mainly to force myself out of my hiding place, and perhaps figure out what’s next in life for me," he detailed honestly.
