Jayson Gainza is among the celebrities who recently shared their experiences after receiving higher-than-expected electricity bills, proving that even familiar faces in showbiz are not spared from rising power costs.

The Kapuso comedian and TiktoClock host took to social media to express his frustration after seeing the amount on their latest bill. He also appealed to Meralco to explain how it was computed.

"Dear @meralcoph Kami po ay walang laundry shop, wala din po kaming talyer at lalong lalo na wala kaming 4 na swimming pool paki explain papano nyo ito na compute ng ganito kalaki. Baka naman pag nagsolar kami maging 12k na lang kuryente namin aba aba baka lalo kayong yumaman!" he wrote.

Actress Barbie Imperial likewise shared her surprise after receiving an electricity bill worth nearly Php19,000. She said the amount puzzled her because she spends around 12 to 14 hours a day at work and is rarely in her condominium.

"Yung mag isa ka lang sa condo halos wala kapa araw araw dahil 12-14 hours ka sa taping. Meralco wild!!!" Barbie posted.

Comedienne Cacai Mitra also aired her concern after receiving a higher electricity bill despite being mindful of their power consumption at home.

"Ayoko na sana makisabay, pero mahimatay naman ako dito Meralco. Super conscious na nga ako sa gamit ng kuryente. Bahay lang po kami hindi commercial building," she said.

Afterward, the celebrity shared another update, saying she had already spoken with a Meralco representative. Cacai clarified that she was not angry with the company and only wanted to express her surprise over the increase in their monthly bill.

"Just to make it clear, HINDI naman po ako galit sa Meralco, naiintindihan ko na may energy crisis. Nag post po ako para mag vent, hindi ko naman akalain na mag viral," she explained. She also noted that their electricity bills had gradually increased from around Php50,000 to Php60,000 last year to more than Php90,000 in recent months.

Meanwhile, comedian and host Kitkat shared her own experience in the comments section of Jayson Gainza's post. Although she did not upload a copy of their bill, she revealed that their household of only three people was charged Php23,000.

"@imjaysongainza kmi brader 3 lang kmi sa bahay mag asawa at baby ko tpos 4 days a wk lng kmi sa bahay wala kami lagi 23k jusko," she commented.

The posts showed that concerns over rising electricity bills are being felt by many households, including several personalities in the entertainment industry who chose to share their experiences with the public.

She explained that they live in a residential home and are conscious of their electricity consumption. The post prompted netizens to speculate that there may have been a meter-reading error, while others blamed the rising cost of electricity.

Following Cacai's complaint about her electricity bill, Meralco clarified that there was no unusual spike in her power consumption. The company said her account is classified as a high-load service and that her electricity usage is consistent with her historical seasonal billing pattern. It also noted that her consumption is comparable to previous months and the same period last year, with no irregularities detected in the bill. Meralco added that it has offered to conduct a technical survey of her property and continues to coordinate with the actress-comedian regarding her concerns.
