The actress shared honest details about leaving Cebu as a teenager and starting over in Manila, which later led her to a career in showbiz.

According to Ellen, her departure from home was driven by a disagreement with her father. She described it as a moment of rebellion and independence that changed the course of her life.
“Lumipad ako ng Manila dahil nag-resign ako sa Papa ko dahil nga nag-away kami. Sabi ko, 'Sige, pupunta na ako sa Manila. Bye,'” Ellen recalled.
Despite the circumstances, Ellen said she eventually embraced her new life in Manila. She explained that being away from Cebu allowed her to meet new people and experience a different world.

“Nagustuhan ko naman. Marami akong nakilala. Bata pa lang kasi ako noon. You want to meet a lot of people, explore. So masaya siya at that time in my life,” she said.
A key revelation in the interview was Ellen’s disclosure that GMA Network Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes played a major role in her entry into showbiz. According to Ellen, she was discovered by Atty. Annette in her early 20s, which eventually led to her television debut.
