Bela Padilla addressed the ongoing issue surrounding her uncle Robin Padilla’s casting in the upcoming series Blood vs Duty.

In a statement posted on Twitter (now X), the actress said she decided to speak out because she has been asked about the matter daily. She explained that her uncle was a recent addition to the show, while she was cast back in December.
According to her, the decision to cast Robin was purely the prerogative of the executive and supervising producers.
Bela wrote: “Growing up, my tito Robin was kind to me and my family. I will be forever grateful for this. But as our careers flourished and took different directions, with him entering politics, our personal encounters have become scarcer. Our ideologies also differed.”

She added that she does not live close to her uncle and had not seen him for three years until they had the same call time last Friday.
She stressed that her uncle’s political affiliation has nothing to do with her personal beliefs and convictions.
“I remain grateful to his kindness, but I also maintain an independent and personal sense of being in charge of my career, choices and convictions,” Bela stated.
The statement comes amid discussions about Robin Padilla’s involvement in the project, which also stars Richard Gutierrez, Barbie Imperial, and Gerald Anderson.
