Regine Velasquez announces ‘Finale’ concert to mark 40 years in music

Regine Velasquez has announced that she will stage what she describes as her “final major solo concert,” marking a significant milestone in her four-decade career in the music industry.

The show, titled “FINALE,” is scheduled for October 17 and 18 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

The announcement was made through her social media platforms on May 1, drawing strong reactions from fans who have followed her journey since the beginning.

While further details about the concert have yet to be disclosed, the event is expected to serve as a grand celebration of her enduring legacy in Original Pilipino Music (OPM).

In a previous interview, Velasquez reflected on her decision to hold one last large-scale solo performance this year.

“Although I still have some projects next year, but this will be my last big solo concert,” she said.

She clarified that stepping back does not necessarily mean completely leaving the industry.

“Sabi ng asawa ko retirement means naman not really stopping altogether,” she added, explaining that it would allow her to focus on projects without the pressure of meeting expectations.

Velasquez first gained recognition in the 1980s after winning singing competitions such as Ang Bagong Kampeon and the Asia Pacific Song Contest.

Known for her powerful vocals and signature ballads, she has since become one of the country’s most respected music icons, earning numerous awards and multi-platinum records.

Beyond her own success, Velasquez has also influenced the next generation of artists, including Sarah Geronimo and Rachelle Ann Go.

She continues to appear on television, including her role as a host on ASAP, while preparing for what could be her most meaningful concert yet.

Regine Velasquez remains one of the most respected and influential artists in the Philippine music scene. Dubbed Asia’s Songbird, she first gained national attention after winning Ang Bagong Kampeon in 1984. She later launched a successful recording career with her debut album, paving the way for decades of chart-topping success. In another development, Regine Velasquez was named Woman of the Year at the Billboard Philippines Women in Music 2026, recognizing her enduring contributions to Original Pilipino Music. The award highlighted not only her vocal prowess but also her influence in shaping the local music industry and promoting Filipino talent globally. She received the honor alongside other prominent artists, including KZ Tandingan, Yeng Constantino, BINI, and G22.

Earlier, Velasquez opened up about experiencing anxiety during recent performances, including her collaboration with Josh Groban in Manila. While she described the opportunity as exciting, she admitted that it also came with overwhelming nerves. Supporters quickly expressed encouragement, reminding her that vulnerability does not diminish her artistry. Despite these challenges, she continues to stay active in the industry and is expected to release new music following her 2024 album Reginified.
