Their story took a more meaningful turn when Fyang recalled a moment involving her mother. She shared how JM directly approached her family to express his intention.

“Noong wala pa ang food, nagtanong ang Mama ko, ‘JM, nililigawan mo ba ang anak ko?’” Smith shared.

JM admitted he initially tried to avoid the question, but eventually clarified his intentions.

“Ano ba, nililigawan mo ba ang anak ko,” Ibarra recalled.

According to Fyang, JM was the first person who formally asked permission from her mother, which left a strong impression on her family. Her father also showed early approval, often asking about JM whenever he was mentioned at home.

One of the most memorable gestures came when JM adjusted his work schedule to attend Fyang’s graduation.

“Dapat lilipad siya pa-Ilocos for two weeks pero minove niya ‘yung taping niya para makapunta sa mismong graduation ko. Doon ko siya pinakilala sa tatay ko na manliligaw,” she said.

At present, Fyang clarified that JM is still in the courtship stage. Despite the slow pace, both families have already shown support, leaving the rest of their story to unfold naturally over time.
