During that time, JM said he accepted any opportunity that came his way. One of his main sources of income was working as an on-call driver, a job he did for several months while still living in the province. Aside from driving, he also took on judging roles in pageants and dance competitions whenever he was invited.

His work setup back then had no stability, as most of his jobs were temporary and depended on demand. Despite this, JM embraced the situation and continued working wherever he could earn.
Interestingly, he also revealed that he used to join pageants before shifting his focus to earning money. However, as their family’s situation became more difficult, he had to prioritize practical needs over personal interests.
JM explained that he reached around 98 kilos during that period.
Looking back, JM doesn’t measure his journey by how far he has come, but by what he was able to overcome.
“Parang pag nakikita ko, ‘nakagawa ko pala yun,’” he said.
Today, JM carries those lessons with him, seeing them as reminders of his strength and determination during one of the toughest periods of his life.
