Curtis made it clear that she was deeply offended by the inappropriate remarks directed at her. While she chose not to accept Suntay’s apology, she also avoided responding with anger. Instead, she expressed empathy for his family, particularly his wife and children, acknowledging the possible humiliation and silent pain they may be enduring because of the situation.
In a recent interview, Curtis reflected on the emotional challenges she has faced over the past year, including personal loss and being caught in tense circumstances abroad. She admitted that hearing her name mentioned in such a vulgar context was upsetting. However, she also recognized a positive outcome—the strong support she received from people across different sectors, including women, men, colleagues, and even strangers.
According to Curtis, the incident highlighted a growing awareness among many individuals who are no longer willing to tolerate disrespectful behavior and are pushing for change.

When asked what advice she would give to men, Curtis offered a straightforward yet impactful response.
“First, understand that respect isn’t complicated. It’s basic decency. It starts with seeing women as equals, not as objects or jokes.” She added, “Second, listen. When women say something is offensive or harmful, the first reaction shouldn’t be defensiveness. It should be curiosity, reflection, and knowing when to apologize sincerely,” she said.
“And finally, speak up. The responsibility to challenge misogyny shouldn’t fall only on women. When men call it out, that’s when culture really begins to shift," she concluded.
Anne Curtis began her career in the mid-1990s and steadily rose to become one of the most influential figures in Philippine entertainment. She has headlined blockbuster films, starred in successful teleseryes, and co-hosted the long-running noontime show It's Showtime. Beyond acting, Anne ventured into music, fashion, and entrepreneurship, continuously evolving her career. Despite her success, she remains relatable and genuine, which has helped her maintain a loyal fan base and lasting impact in the industry through the years.
Bong Suntay, a Quezon City representative, faced backlash after making remarks about Anne Curtis during a House justice committee hearing. Several lawmakers called his statements inappropriate and moved to have them removed from the official record. Suntay, however, defended himself, insisting that his comments were neither s*xual nor immoral. The controversy emerged while the committee was discussing impeachment complaints against Sara Duterte, drawing further public attention to the issue.
Following the backlash, Bong Suntay issued an apology to those offended by his remarks about Anne Curtis, while still defending his analogy. He compared his statement about feeling “desire” toward Curtis to a previous remark made by Sara Duterte, explaining that both involved imagined scenarios. Lawmakers, including Ysabel Maria Zamora, pushed to strike his comments from the record. Suntay maintained that his point was to show that imagination without action should not be considered an impeachable offense.
