A day after winning America’s Got Talent (AGT) Season 20, Filipino-American singer Jessica Sanchez shared her emotional journey both on and off stage during the historic night, as per AB-CBN.

Sanchez, who is nine months pregnant, revealed that she brought her midwife with her to the finale to ensure her unborn baby’s safety.
She said this gave her the peace of mind and confidence to give her all in her performance.

“She did, yeah, so before the show, she checked her heartbeat and her position and everything, just to make sure she was good and healthy and functioning correctly. And everything was good. And so that gave me more confidence to just go up on stage and do my best,” Jessica said.

Her remarkable voice control stood out, but equally striking was her calmness despite the challenges of protecting her child while competing.
When the announcement came that she had won, Sanchez appeared overwhelmed, almost at a loss for words.
“I was just like pouring out with tears. I was like, Oh my gosh, this is crazy. I was trying not to cry. But then, you know, when you fight it, you become like this ugly crier. I just want to thank all of the supporters and the people that have voted for me, the people that have shared my stuff and just loved on me. I would not be in this position right now without you, you are the reason why I'm here. So thank you so much,” she said.

Returning to AGT two decades after her first audition and more than a decade after American Idol, Sanchez said she now carries life experience and a deeper faith in God.
“My identity is in Christ… music is just a big part of my life… but it’s not who I am,” she shared.
Aside from Jessica Sanchez, another Filipino singer who made waves in the international competition scene was Sofronio Vasquez, a Filipino singer who became famous after being declared the champion of The Voice Season 26 in America. Prior to this, he participated in local singing competitions in the Philippines such as Tawag ng Tanghalan and The Voice Philippines.
In a previous report by KAMI, Sofronio Vasquez’s win at the Season 26 of The Voice is also the first win of Michael Bublé as a coach of the singing contest. Sofronio bested four other finalists from Team Bublé, Team Reba, Team Snoop, and Team Gwen. He grew up in the Philippines but transferred to the United States in the year 2022 to try to bring realization to his dream in music. In a statement, Sofronio gave tribute to his late father, whom he said taught him to love music.
