On Wednesday, Barretto reposted three quote cards on her Instagram Stories, each emphasizing how the disputed ₱1 billion fund could have been better spent on public needs.

“P1 BILLION is not just a number. Here's what it could mean if it worked for us,” the first post read.

The succeeding slides broke down possible allocations: “1B = full education for 25,000 students – from kinder to college” and “P1B = 20,000 proper houses for families without one.”

Barretto did not add personal commentary but her reposts resonated with thousands of followers, sparking further online discussion about corruption and accountability in infrastructure projects.

Her posts come at a time when the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) faces heightened scrutiny after officials confirmed that certain flood control projects had already been paid in full despite not being completed—or even started.

The issue drew national attention after DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon publicly confronted a district engineer in Davao Occidental for the unfinished Culaman Bridge flood control project.

Similar allegations have also been raised in Bulacan and other provinces.

Barretto’s gesture follows other personalities who have spoken out, including Angel Locsin, Vice Ganda, and Sarah Geronimo, all of whom expressed frustration over corruption and mismanagement of public funds.
