Sen. Bato Dela Rosa has taken to social media to pay tribute to Freddie Aguilar, who passed away on May 27, 2025.

In one of his recent posts, Dela Rosa sent his sincere condolences to Ka Freddie’s loved ones.

“Lubos na pakikiramay po sa mga minamahal na kapamilya ng sa isa sa mga pinaka nirerespeto at tinitingala nating kompositor at mang-aawit na si Ka Freddie Aguilar.”

The senator went on to express gratitude to the late OPM icon for his talent that inspired tons of Filipinos.

“Maraming salamat sa paggamit ng iyong pambihirang talento na nagsilbing kanlungan, inspirasyon, at boses ng bawat Pilipinong nagmamahal sa sariling bayan.”

“Mananatiling buhay ang iyong musika sa aming mga puso,” Dela Rosa added.

In another post, the senator shared a video of the Filipino folk musician lamenting over the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte last March. Along with the video, Dela Rosa further honored the “Anak” hitmaker.

“Maraming salamat sa iyong musika, sa mga ala-ala, at sa iyong pagiging tapat na Pilipino. Maraming anak ang naturuan mo paano bigyan ng halaga ang kanilang mga magulang. Sumalangit nawa ang iyong kaluluwa. Pakikiramay po sa mga nauulila,” Dela Rosa noted.

The legendary musician died at the age of 72. The news was confirmed by his former partner Josephine Quiepo, the mother of his children, including singer Maegan Aguilar, during an interview on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda."

According to Josephine, the OPM artist died due to multiple organ failure. He lost his life while at the Philippine Heart Center.

Freddie Aguilar was born on February 5, 1953, and began performing OPM music in 1973. Throughout his five decades in the industry, he became known for songs with themes centered on family, patriotism, and social issues. During the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte, he was appointed as the Presidential Adviser on Culture and the Arts and also served as a member of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

Recently, Ara Mina has taken to social media to pay tribute to the late Freddie Aguilar. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Ara shared a carousel post that contains photos and a clip displaying the present she received from Ka Freddie after they performed together. According to her post, the actress received a lovely painting from the OPM legend, which came with a handwritten note. In the caption, the actress wrote a message honoring Ka Freddie.

Manny Pacquiao also honored Freddie Aguilar in his heartfelt tribute posted on social media. On his Facebook page, the boxing legend expressed how saddened he is over Ka Freddie’s demise. The former senator likewise lauded the late OPM legend’s “Anak,” expressing how the timeless hit touched his heart. The athlete likewise sent his deepest condolences to Ka Freddie’s family and friends.
