Ces Drilon is among the prominent personalities who took to social media to pay their tributes to the late Pilita Corrales, who recently died at the age of 85.

On her Instagram page, Ces shared a carousel of photos captured when she interviewed the Asia’s Queen of Songs in 2012.

“Pilita in her trademark bouffant hairdo and me in my signature pixie cut, back in 2012,” Ces wrote in the caption.

She went on to share Pilita’s remarkable quote during the interview.

The journalist further talked about the veteran singer-actress’ background.

“What a life she lived! Her singing career began at age 16, when she had to fend for the family after her father passed away suddenly. She was born in Lahug, Cebu City on August 22, 1939, the second of a brood of six. Her parents Jose Corrales and Maria Garrido were of Spanish ancestry. Her favorites are love songs and she had many loves, finding her last in her senior years.”

Ces concluded her tribute by earnestly writing, “Her songs will always remain immortal. RIP Pilita.”

It is worth noting that on Saturday, April 12, Janine Gutierrez announced the unfortunate news about her beloved grandmother.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mami and mamita, Pilita Corrales.”
“Pilita touched the lives of many, not only with her songs but also with her kindness and generosity. She will be remembered for her contributions to the entertainment industry, but most of all for her love of life and family.”

The Kapamilya actress likewise asked the public to “join us with your prayers and kind thoughts as we celebrate her beautiful life.”

Janine, however, did not mention the cause of death of the well-loved Asia’s Queen of Songs.

Born on August 22, 1939, Pilita Corrales was a multi-talented artist—a singer, actress, comedian, and television host who achieved success not only in the Philippines but also internationally. She was the first female artist to score a number one hit on the Australian pop charts in the 1950s with the song “Come Closer to Me.”

Janno Gibbs has also taken to social media to honor Pilita Corrales. On his Instagram page, Janno shared a clip from their music video for “Kapantay Ay Langit,” which was also Pilita’s first-ever music video in her career. In the caption, Janno wrote a heartfelt tribute to the late veteran singer-actress. He began his earnest caption by wishing Pilita’s soul an eternal peace. The singer-actor also affectionately expressed, “Love you Tapilits. Your voice stayed golden till the end.”
