On Saturday, April 12, Janine Gutierrez took to social media to confirm the heartbreaking news about her grandmother, whom she affectionately calls “Mamita.” Pilita was 85 years old.
Martin later took to his Instagram page to pay tribute to the late veteran singer-actress.

In his post, Martin expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his “Tita Mamita.”
“Thank you for giving me my first pair of wings. Because of you I could fly into my dreams,” he emotionally wrote.
“Now I ask the entire Showbiz industry to bend the “Pilita bend” with me in honor of a legend; an icon,” Martin wrote, referring to Pilita's signature backbend when singing.
“We love you and honor you this day as we remember you and let your spirit live through all our good works from this day forward. A million thanks to you, tita mamita, Pilita Corrales!” he earnestly penned.
Furthermore, Martin shared a video of his last duet with the Asia’s Queen of Songs. In the clip, the two could be seen and heard singing “Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin.”
“I will never forget this, our last duet,” said Martin, who vowed to treasure their very last performance together.

Martin Nievera is a famous Filipino singer and songwriter, known as the 'Concert King' in the Philippines. He was once married to Pops Fernandez, a Filipina singer, but their marriage was officially annulled in 2000. He and Pops have two children together.
In a previous report by KAMI, Martin Nievera, the Concert King, recently talked about his ex-wife, Pops Fernandez. On the website, YouTube, Martin guested on Toni Gonzaga's famous show, 'Toni Talks.' During the interview, Martin recalled an encounter he had with a nun amid the breakup. He then shared what the nun did to him which stunned Toni upon hearing it as well. "A nun, madre, walking, may kasamang payong. Nag-smile siya sa akin, nag-smile din ako, tas sinampal ako sa mall! Sinampal ako sa mall, sa Glorietta! Sabi ko, 'Bakit po? I'm so sorry, did I offend you?' 'Bakit iniwan mo si Pops?' ganun," Martin briefly recalled.
Earlier, a video of Martin Nievera who seemed to be teasing Gabby Concepcion and Sharon Cuneta went viral. The video was uploaded on @justsharoncuneta. In the video, one could see that Sharon, Gabby, Pops Fernandez, and Martin were together. Martin then whispered and said that Gabby was very happy. He then named Gabby with "Happy Concepcion." In the succeeding scenes, Sharon was trying to get Gabby to say something on a recorder. Again, Martin was there, ready to tease the former couple.
