John Lapus is among the Filipino celebrities who have taken to social media to post about Barbie Hsu.
It is worth noting that the Taiwanese star is making the rounds on social media due to news about her untimely passing. The ‘Meteor Garden’ actress has died at the age of 48, as confirmed by her family. She succumbed to pneumonia after getting it during their Japan tour for the Chinese New Year period.
DJ Koo Jun-yup, the husband of Barbie Hsu, has spoken up regarding the death of his wife. According to Asia One, Ilgan Sports reported that Koo stated in a sad and grieving voice that the reported death of his wife is “not fake news.” Also, in an article by Focus Taiwan, the tragic news was also confirmed by her sister on Monday through her agent.

Following the heartbreaking news, Lapus recalled his meeting with Barbie Hsu, who was best known for playing Shan Cai.
As per the comedian-director, the lovely meeting happened when she visited the Philippines in 2003 for her concert. Lapus said he was the opening act for the show.
“Na-meet ko si Barbie Hsu sa concert nila sa BGC open field nong 2003. Ako nag front act,” he recollected.
In the same post published on X, formerly Twitter, the Filipino actor penned a short note for the late actress’ soul.
“RIP Barbie,” Lapus wrote along with a praying hands emoji.

Barbie Hsu was best known for her role as 'Shan Cai' in the 2001 Taiwanese drama "Meteor Garden," where she starred alongside Taiwanese actors Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Vanness Wu, and Ken Chu. On February 2, 2025, she succumbed to influenza-induced pneumonia. She was 48 years old.

In the comments section of his FB post, Xian reacted to the famous Taiwanese actor’s message to his late ‘Meteor Garden’ co-star. The Filipino social media personality also shared a photo where he seems to be crying.
