Carlos Yulo, in an ambush interview with ABS-CBN, expressed his opinion as to what type of support should be accorded to Pinoy athletes.
During the said interview with an ABS-CBN reporter, the Pinoy Olympian was asked how can the country come up with more gymnastic champions.
Before Carlos could answer, the reporter followed up her question by asking the twin-gold medalist as to what he needed when he was just starting out.
“How can the Philippines create more gymnastic champions? Ano ba yung struggles ng mga teammates natin? Ikaw? Ikaw mismo nung nagsa-start out ka?” the ABS-CBN reporter asked.

Carlos, at the outset, appeared a bit hesitant to answer at the outset by saying that it’s a big question for him.
“Mahirap pong sagutin po siya ngayon. Sobrang big question po,” Carlos said.
Eventually, he expressed his own opinion, which he based from his own experience.
“Hindi naman po about sa money lang lahat po. Ah kailangan di po ng other support like sa equipment and sa food, sa mental training po, yung mga ganung aspect po ng sa sports po,” the Pinoy Olympian said.
“Yeah, mga ganung bagay po yung mga need din hindi lang totally about sa financial po,” Carlos concluded.
Carlos Yulo is a Filipino artistic gymnast known for his exceptional skills and achievements in gymnastics. He gained international recognition for his performances in various competitions, particularly in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He won two gold medals in gymnastics' men's floor exercise and men's vault in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In a recent ambush interview with ABS-CBN, Carlos finally has a message for his former Japanese coach, Munehiro Kugimiya. It can be recalled that the Pinoy Olympian trained under the wing of Coach Kugimiya beginning 2016. At the time, Carlos was studying at the Teikyo University in Itabashi, Tokyo under a scholarship program by the Japan Olympic Association. In 2023, after seven years of tutelage, Kugimiya and Carlos parted ways without any bad blood between them
In the same interview, he also expressed his opinion on the possibility of having a Team Yulo in Olympics 2028. Earlier, a reporter asked the Pinoy Olympian if there is any chance of Carlos and his siblings competing together in the international competition four years from now. The two-gold medalist gave his answer to the reporter with a broad smile. It can be recalled that the siblings of the Pinoy Olympian, Karl Jahrel Eldrew Yulo and Elaiza Yulo, were both gymnasts and have already won in various national and international competitions.
