Doris Bigornia, during an event she recently hosted, discussed her lessons from the health scare she encountered some years ago.
To recall, Bigornia underwent heart surgery in 2021 and started undergoing regular dialysis since then because of chronic kidney disease.
Due to her health battle, Bigornia learned how vital health is.
“Gusto ko iyong mga pagkakamali na nagawa ko, ma-educate ko ang ibang tao na huwag ninyo akong tularan. Kasi dapat iyong sinasabi natin na corny, cliché, na importante ang health, totoo po iyon. No amount of money that you’ll earn would mean happiness and security for you and your family kundi iyong health mo,” the "Mutya ng Masa" told INQUIRER.net.

The prominent newscaster admitted that she did not take care of her health and even skipped ABS-CBN’s annual physical examinations by making up excuses.
“Hindi ko inalagaan ang kalusugan ko. At that time I was so busy working. I had no time to check on my health, which was a big mistake kasi binalikan ako.”
“Iyon ang pinakamalaking mali na ginawa ko. Kasi libre iyon eh. Libre na nga sa kumpanya, hindi ko pa inavail. Kung ginawa ko iyon, nakita sana agad na tumataas na iyong creatinine level ko, baka puwede pang maabatan eh.”
The veteran journalist then encouraged everyone to take good care of their health and urged people, “Magpa-test, kahit wala kayong nararamdaman.”
Doris Agbayani Bigornia is a Filipina journalist, field reporter, and news presenter. She was born on February 17, 1966. She was nominated for PMPC Star Awards for TV Best Morning Show Host and PMPC Star Awards for TV Best Magazine Show Host.
In 2021, Doris suffered from a heart attack. This was announced by her partner, Alvin Elchico, in Teleradyo on Feb. 23. Alvin said that he revealed it to the public because many were asking about Doris's whereabouts.
Doris showed up at ABS-CBN's TeleRadyo to give her appreciation to those who helped her after she had a heart attack. In the video, the broadcaster looked perky and healthy though she did sport a bandage on her neck which she revealed was a fistula for her dialysis. The "Mutya ng Masa" thanked her doctors and medical team for helping her recover from her condition and expressed gratitude to everyone who supported her.
