Robin Padilla, during the media conference for the movie, “Gringo: The Greg Honasan Story,” admitted that he’s a bit disappointed with being a politician.
He also added that he doesn’t enjoy the political life as he can’t sleep well at night.
The actor-turned-politician in the past revealed that he doesn’t have any plans running for public office, though claimed that upon the prodding of former President Rodrigo Duterte, he went on to gun for a seat in the senate.
He said he didn’t expect he would come out number one in the last national election.

“Mahirap matulog sa gabi hindi kagaya ng artista. Wala akong peace of mind, kasi dito (bilang senador) nagtrabaho ka na, tumulong ka na, hindi ko maintidihan,” Robin said during the mediacon.
He then said that as a politician, he still thinks about the number of Filipinos who are starving, even when he’s already at home.
“Pagdating mo sa bahay kapag natutulog ka na naiisip ko pa rin na ang dami pa ring tao na nagugutom kaya iba pag artista ka,” he said.
“Sa artista kapag tumulong ka nagbigay ka ng pera at pag-uwi mo masaya ka na kasi hindi mo naman job, ‘yun. Hindi mo tungkulin ang tumulong pero dahil ginagawa mo, ang saya-saya mo,” he further said.
“Pero ‘yung job mo na ayusin ang buhay ng Pilipino tapos uuwi ka sa bahay, naku ang hirap, napakahirap!” the legislator added.
Sen. Robin also admitted that he can’t change the system that is in place today, adding that though he has many plans for change, he’s only one of the 24 senators in the country.
“Hindi, eh, sobrang bulok ng sistema natin saka mahirap baguhin ‘yun,” he said.
“Maraming nagsasabing sayang ang botong ibinigay nila kay Sen. Robin dahil wala pang nangyayari sa mga ipinangako niyang aayusin niya kapag nasa senado na siya,” the actor-turned-politician said.
“’Yun ang mas masakit kasi nakita na natin ‘tong bulok na sistema at nilabanan natin. Ngayon nandoon ka sa loob ng sistema. Nilalabanan mo hindi ka makaganu’n kasi ‘yung system mismo kakainin ka nu’n nang buung-buo,”he claimed.
“Sabi ng mga tao, wala naman akong ginagawa, mga ma’am, mga sir, iisa lang po ako ru’n 24 kami. Kahit na anong ganda at planong iniisip ko para sa taumbayan kung ‘yung 23 ay hindi naman sang-ayon sa ‘yo, anong magagawa ko?” Senator Robin explained.
Robin Padilla is a famous action star and endorser in the Philippines. He is married to actress-host Mariel Padilla. The actor has two children with Mariel – Isabella and Gabriela. He is also the father of actress Kylie Padilla. Robin ran for senator in the 2022 Election. He won the race and was number one in the number of votes received among all candidates.
He also previously shared his thoughts on the breakup between his nephew Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo. According to Abante Tonite, Robin believes that once Kathryn and Daniel mature, they will realize that they are meant for each other and that they will reconcile as a couple once they’re given a project together. The politician also reportedly encouraged Kathryn and Daniel to enjoy their lives away from each other because that will supposedly allow them to realize that they love each other. Furthermore, Robin acknowledged Kathryn’s contribution to Daniel’s success in the showbiz industry.
Meanwhile, the wife of Senator Robin, celebrity Mariel Padilla in her latest vlog, was seen joining her husband at a shootfest. In the viral vlog, Mariel could be seen participating at the "1st Mistah Shootfest." According to Mariel, as a supportive wife, she wants to be present at her husband's events. The said event also talked about gun handling and storage, as per Mariel, in the caption.
