Maxene Magalona took to Instagram and shared a reminder for all men during the Men's Mental Health Awareness Month in June.
In the series of slides she shared, one stated that crying is not a sign of weakness, and that it actually means that one is strong enough to face the pain.
"June is #MensMentalHealth awareness month. To the men reading this, please know that it is 100% okay to cry and feel your emotions. Society conditioned you to believe that crying makes you weak. This is not true. Crying is actually a much-needed cleanse for the body and soul and you have to acknowledge and release what you’re feeling or else you will have an imbalance in your system due to suppressed emotions. Just like how you fix and tune up your cars, computers and gadgets, you also need to do inner work that will make you feel good and healthy on the inside. If you think exercising and maintaining your physical body is important, your mind, heart and soul actually need a lot more work."
"We often put so much pressure on men to be perfect and the best at everything that they do. I sincerely believe it’s time that we all heal as a collective by showing our genuine love and appreciation for the men in our lives, especially our partners. Let’s offer them love, grace, compassion, understanding and patience. If we want them to be the best, we have to love and value them the best way that we can. "
