Dingdong Dantes and Piolo Pascual were both declared as Best Actor during the 2024 Manila International Film Festival Awards.

The yearly event, which open doors for films created in the Philippines to Hollywood and international stages, was held in Los Angeles, California, last Saturday, February 3.

The two big winners shared the limelight for the portrayal of their roles in their respective films.

Dingdong was given the MIFF Best Actor award for his portrayal in the highest grossing film, “Rewind,” while Piolo was also handed the same award for his portrayal of his role in the thriller film “Mallari.”

Netizens, however, were divided in their reactions over the big win of the two actors.

“Dapat brineak. Or may rules sila sa pag break ng tie kasi ang panget nung tie,” reads one comment.

“Ang galing ni Dong,” another netizen said.

“In fairness Piolo is good in Mallari,” commented another.

Dingdong Dantes is a famous actor who works for the Kapuso network. He is also an accomplished television host. He tied the knot with famous actress Marian Rivera on December 30, 2014, and they have two children – Maria Letizia "Zia" Dantes and Jose Sixto "Ziggy" Dantes IV. The two are considered the power couple of GMA.

In a related article, "Rewind" has breached the P900 million mark, making it the first-ever Filipino film to reach that number. Star Cinema has announced that the movie has already reached P902 million to be exact. The movie stars reel and real-life couple Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes. It was also an MMFF entry but unfortunately, it was not able to win any award in the aforementioned film festival.

Meanwhile, Dingdong captured the netizens' attention with a lovely photo that he uploaded. The said pic shows his wife, Marian Rivera, playing with their two children, Zia and Sixto Dantes. Furthermore, the celebrity dad also captioned the post with, "At ang referee! @marianrivera." Likewise, Dingdong also added another photo where Zia and Ziggy are having fun playing football.
