Earlier, the veteran showbiz columnist discussed the issue between TAPE, Inc. and Tito, Vic, and Joey (TVJ) as regards the name “Eat Bulaga.”

“Hangga ngayon heto pa ang agawan sa title ng Eat Bulaga. A rose by any other name is still a rose,” Manay Lolit said.

According to the veteran columnist, whatever name is placed in a show that features TVJ, the name “Eat Bulaga” would immediately come to mind.

“Siguro kahit ano pa title ang ilagay mo, basta nakita mo sila Tito, Vic and Joey, Eat Bulaga parin maiisip mo,” the veteran columnist said.

“Kaya kahit sino pa gumamit, silang 3 parin ang orig, kaya no problem kung sakaling baguhin nila Paolo Contis ang name ng noontime show nila,” she added.

Manay Lolit then noted that TAPE Inc.’s version of “Eat Bulaga” where Paolo is one of the hosts already have a strong following, which is why even if its name is changed, she’s sure they would still have viewers.

“Nakakatuwa nga na meron narin malakas na following iyon show nila Paolo kaya kahit bigyan mo na ito ng iba pang pangalan tiyak na may viewers narin sila,” she said.

The columnist then expressed hope that the issue would be finally put to rest for the sake of the viewers.

“Sana nga huwag ng humaba pa ang issue dahil healthy naman para sa viewers na 3 na ang show na puwede nila mapanuod pag tanghali,” the columnist said.

Makikita mo na ngayon kung sino talaga ang magiging matatag sa labanan. Kaya naman ang mga commercials hindi alam kung saan ilalagay ang kanilang ads dahil 3 na ang pagpipilian nila. Bongga talaga ang tanghali na hindi ka puwede matulog dahil nga type mo,” Manay Lolit concluded.

Eat Bulaga is a popular noontime show in the Phlippines. At present, the name is the subject of a controversy with two parties, namely, TAPE Inc. and TVJ, claiming ownership of the name. Recently, the Intellectual Property Office rejected the application of TAPE Inc for trademark rights to the name, while the application of Joey De Leon of TVJ for the same purpose was approved.

Recently, former Senator Tito Sotto shared online that TAPE Inc.’s appeal regarding the Eat Bulaga trademark case has been dismissed. Earlier, TAPE Inc. made the appeal after the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) canceled TAPE Inc.’s Eat Bulaga trademark. The IPO stated that it is TVJ (Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey De Leon) who have the right to trademark Eat Bulaga. TVJ’s show on TV5, will soon be using the title “Eat Bulaga” after months of using “E.A.T.” since separating from TAPE Inc.

In the meantime, Joey of TVJ stirred buzz on social media after the trio held an official presscon after their trademark case win. During the presscon, TVJ was asked about the possibility of two 'Eat Bulagas' airing. This prompted Joey to say, "Mga tao na hahatol niyan" during the press conference.
