Erik Santos, after performing live in ASAP to mark his 20th year in the showbiz industry, wasn’t able to stop himself from crying as he thanked those who helped him throughout his career.

Among those he profusely thanked were ZsaZsa Padilla, whom he called “nanay” for acting like a second mother to him and guiding him when he was just starting out, as well as Gary Valenciano and power singing couple, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid and Ogie Alcasid.

“Yun pong 20 years ko, si “Nanay” ZsaZsa po talaga ang isa sa pinaka-unang tao na nakasama ko, kaya tawag ko po sa kanya “Nanay” kasi napakalaking bahagi po ni Nanay ZsaZsa sa aking career,” Erik said.
“Sobra niya po akong ininspire at tinulungan hanggang sa masasayang araw ko, kahit sa mga matitinding pagsubok nandyan ka pa rin. Thank you. Thank you po,” the balladeer added amid tears.

Erik also revealed that Regine and Ogie, during one of their major concerts, asked him to be one of their guests and shared the stage with him.

“Tapos si Ate Reg po at si Kuya Ogie, sila po yung dalawang artists na nung nagsisimula po ako na nag-guest po sa akin sa isang major concert,” he revealed.
“May mga artists po na humindi po sa akin para ma-guest ako,” Erik said, to which ZsaZsa suddenly humorously asked: “Sinu-sino yun?”

The balladeer, still crying profusely, then continued to narrate about his guesting with Regine and Ogie.

“Sila pong dalawa yung nagpatikim sa akin kung ano po yung, yung pakiramdam na magperform sa Araneta Coliseum,” he said.
“Ate Reg, Kuya Ogs, napakalaking parte po kayo ng aking career,” Erik said.

He also thanked Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera for inspiring him.

“And of course to Kuya Gary and Kuya Martin, dalawa po yan sa pinakainiidolo ko and growing up, yung mga awitin po nila ang aking mga inaawit kasama po ang aking tatay,” Erik said.

The balladeer rose to fame after winning as the Grand Champion of the Season 1 of ABS-CBN’s Star In A Million way back in January of 2004.

Erik Santos is one of the most acclaimed and lauded singers in the Philippines. He was hailed as the first Grand Champion of the ABS-CBN singing competition Star in a Million Season 1 in 2003. His hit songs include "Kulang Ako Kung Wala Ka" and "Pagbigyang Muli."

Last month, Erik sadly shared on social media the demise of his father, Renato Aquino Santos. Renato, born on November 12, 1952, passed away at the age of 71 last August 10. The OPM star also shared a Bible quote about fighting the good fight, finishing the race, and keeping the faith. Just last December, Erik’s mother, Angelita Ramos Santos, died at the age of 66 due to cancer.

At the time, he came under the spotlight due to a viral video that circulated online. During the wake of his late father, Erik rendered a song dedicated to his late dad. A video of his emotional and heartfelt performance trended on social media. Countless netizens expressed their sympathies for the singer and his family.
