The veteran broadcast journalist recently passed away after a long-drawn battle with a lingering illness.
Mike died on August 29, Wednesday, just a month before his birthday, which was supposed to be on September 29.
The recent episode of Unang Hirit featured the legendary crooner as guest being the first day of the “Ber” months, where he sang his iconic song “Christmas in Our Hearts.”

He also sang his hit song, “A Love To Last A Lifetime,” which he offered as tribute to the late broadcast journalist.
As he sang the timeless piece, the cast became visibly emotional and were hugging each other amid tears.
After singing the song, Jose Mari talked to some of the cast who revealed the reason for their outpouring of emotions.
“I always like that song pero today…” one of the cast of Unang Hirit, who has her back to the camera, began to make a statement which the legendary crooner then completed.
“May sudden meaning,” Jose Mari said.
“Pero totoo 'yan, we're really just passing,” the UH cast member said.
“Let's all pray for him,” Jose Mari replied, referring to the late Mike.
“I will pray for you Tito Jo,” she said, adding that she will pray for the legendary crooner.
“Thank you talaga for bringing all these songs. It's an honor for us ha,” the UH cast member said.
Jose Mari Chan is an iconic singer, best known for his song “Christmas in Our Hearts.” Aside from being a music artist, he is also the chairman and CEO of Binalbagan Isabela Sugar Company, Inc. (BISCOM) and A. Chan Sugar Corporation.

In the Philippines, September is the first month of the so-called “Ber” months, or the months ending in “ber,” signaling the start of the Christmas season. The song, through the years, has become part of the “Ber” months celebration with the singer becoming subject to dozens of funny memes about the coming season. The hosts of the show, in a heartfelt video, joined in singing the chorus while Jose Mari egged them on.
In a recent interview with Susan Enriquez of “Unang Hirit,” Jose Mari also admitted being amused by the memes about him and Christmas. He said he’s amused and happy by the “memes” about him whenever the Christmas season arrives. It can be recalled Jose Mari Christmas memes, which depict him peeping behind a wall, bush, body of water, and many more, appear beginning the last week of August up until November. He also expressed his wish that someone would make a meme about him that he had desired for a long time.
