In an interview with Dr. Vicki Belo, she narrated how she was bullied in school because of her skin.

According to Liza, people were saying that she had "galis" like dogs and would even turn to call her "hayop" instead of "Hi Hope."

"Not my face but on my body ‘cause I really had bad skin growing up ‘cause I have allergic reactions to the air, change in environment because I grew up in America and I came here and all of a sudden I had all these rashes coming up my legs and stuff,” she explained.

She also said that she always got compared to girls who were smaller than her.

"“And I kind of got bullied in school for that. People would call me ‘hayop,’ instead of saying ‘Hi Hope’ it would be like hayop… ‘Cause people would say that I have galis like a dog because my skin was really bad.”
