She believes that this trait was caused by some of the childhood wounds she suffered from people who have hurt her in the past. For this reason, Maxene emphasized the need to let go of the past and be patient with oneself during the entirety of the healing journey.

“One more toxic trait that I still have up to this day is my inability to gracefully accept constructive criticism. I realized that I absolutely hate being scolded or being told that I did something wrong. I immediately flare up, get defensive and explode with anger. It’s so unattractive and extremely low vibrational.

“One of the many mistakes we often make in our relationships (all relationships, not just romantic ones) as adults is we bring our childhood wounds with us and project them on to our loved ones unconsciously. We tend to act from that wounded place and feel as though the other person is just the same as the ones who hurt us in the past. We carry old wounds with us into new relationships which eventually cause more pain and suffering not just for us but for everyone else around us.

“As adults, we have to do the work to let go of the past conditioning and old beliefs that we received as children in order to evolve and soon have healthier relationships and a more peaceful life overall.
“Healing takes time so please be patient with yourself. You may find yourself still making mistakes, crying and breaking down once in a while and that’s totally normal. You just have to keep going and releasing your pain until you find yourself crying happy and peaceful tears. Beautiful tears that remind us of the painful growth that we go through to get to where we are today.
“I’m proud of my tears. I’m proud of my strength to face my own pain. No pain, no gain. No rain, no rainbow,” Maxene posted.
