Joey De Leon, in an interview conducted by Julius Babao appeared to unleash a deep “hugot” in the middle of his conversation with the award-winning journalist.

In the said interview, Joey answered many of the questions that Julius asked about TVJ, “Eat Bulaga,” TAPE, and GMA7.

He also unleashed more revelations as regards the events that transpired in the more recent past.

According to Joey, the management of GMA did not even bother to ask about their well-being after their trio, TVJ, bid TAPE goodbye on May 31.

“’Yung mismong seven (GMA) hindi nagparamdam kasi ang sinasabi nila ang kontrata naman nila with the producers (TAPE, Inc),” Joey revealed during his interview.

“Hindi naman kami nagtatampo pero hindi naman kahina-hinala rin pero kapuna-puna na wala silang sinabi na ‘Uy anumang mangyari, itutuloy namin, ah?’ Take ko ‘yun,” the comedian told Julius.

It appeared that Joey is referring to a recent interview of GMA Senior Vice President, Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, on “24 Oras.”

Julius then asked Joey if GMA tried to mediate between TVJ and TAPE, to which Joey answered in the negative.

“Wala-wala, well masakit mang sabihin na ‘matanda na ‘yang mga ‘yan okay na.’ Pero hindi, eh, pati mga bata madadamay, pati portions,” the comedian revealed.

He also revealed that TAPE reduced the salary of the hosts, as well as the entire production team.

“Ang totoo? Natawa pa ako, sabi ko, ‘ano ba naman ‘yan, ilan na lang ang itatagal ako hindi ako morbid pero ‘yun. Sabi ko sa kanila, ‘ayaw n’yo ba kaming paabutin ng 50 years tapos sipain n’yo na kami?” he disclosed during the interview.

“May dapat pa nga raw idadagdag si Joey na hindi niya nasabi, ‘Puwede ba pag natigok kami kalimutan n’yo na ‘yung rest in peace, respect na lang.’ Hindi ko binitawan ‘yun, pero maganda ‘yun,” Joey said.

As to the question whether they’re going to use the name “Eat Bulaga” on TV5, Joey said that the matter is now in court.

“We’ll we’ll see, malapit na, malapit na ang paghuhukom,” Joey said.

Eat Bulaga” is the longest-running noontime program in the world. Its hosts, including Vic Sotto, Tito Sotto, Joey De Leon, Maine Mendoza, and others, announced last May 31 that they are separating from TAPE Inc., the company that produces the show. It is not yet clear as of this writing if the hosts will take the Eat Bulaga title with them to another network or if TAPE Inc. will keep the iconic name.

In the same interview, Joey humorously fell victim to “Wow Mali,” the phrase often attributed to him and his show of the same name, when he was interviewed by Julius Babao. In the video posted by the journalist, Joey's face can be seen showing deep concern about what is happening after the said interview. The comedian’s face only showed relief when he was told that he fell victim to “wow mali,” though he said that he was already beginning to think the scene was like the one on his show. Julius interviewed Joey for his views, thoughts, and opinions about what happened at GMA7 and what they’re looking forward to with TV5.

Joey also became the topic of discussion in the social media post of veteran showbiz columnist, Lolit Solis. In her IG, Manay Lolit expressed pity on TV host and comedian, Joey De Leon. In the same post, the veteran showbiz columnist then explained why she felt pity for Joey. It can be recalled that Joey granted some members of the media an interview where he wasn’t able to stop himself from shedding tears. On May 31, in a sudden and dramatic turn of events, Joey, along with Tito and Vic Sotto, announced the are parting ways with TAPE, Inc., the producer of Eat Bulaga.
