Ai-Ai Delas Alas sa pagdeklara sa kanya bilang ‘persona non grata’ sa QC: “Pasensya na Mayora”

Ai-Ai Delas Alas was the guest in the latest episode of Boy Abunda’s talk show on GMA, “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.”

Among the topics discussed during interview was about Quezon City Council’s resolution declaring Ai-Ai a “persona non grata.”

“Bilang persona non grata, una sa lahat, hindi ko talaga alam ang meaning no'n. Nalaman ko na lang noong, 'Ah, dineclare pala akez,'” she revealed.

The Kapuso comedienne went on to explain her side of the story.

“Sa totoo lang, hindi ko akalain na gano'n pala 'yon kasi noong ginawa ko po 'yon, bilang artista po. Tapos, sila naman ang gumawa ng script no'n.”

“Yung iba do'n (script), talagang pina-edit ko kasi ang alam ko, baka ma-offend si Mayora,” she opened up.

Furthermore, Ai-Ai aired an apology to QC Mayor Joy Belmonte.

“But since, 'yun nga nga, parang na-offend siya. Pasensya na Mayora na ako pala ay nakasakit sa'yo. Pero artista lang ako, kung baga kaya ginawa ko 'yon kasi inutos lang sa'kin.”

“Mayora, alam mo dapat hindi ka na magtatampo sa'kin. Kasi 'pag nagtampo ka sa'kin parang nagtampo ka sa sarili mo. Eh diba magkamukha tayo?” she hilariously added.

Martina Eileen Hernandez delas Alas-Sibayan, more popularly known as Ai-Ai Delas Alas in the entertainment world, is a Pinay film and TV actress-comedienne. She was born on November 11, 1964, and rose to fame through her film Ang Tanging Ina, which became a blockbuster hit.

In June of 2022, Outgoing Quezon City District 4 Councilor Ivy Lagman filed a resolution to declare Ai-Ai delas Alas and Darryl Yap as "persona non grata" for allegedly disrespecting the triangular seal of QC. This stemmed from a video where the words "BBM" and "SARA" were placed on two different sides of the seal. The resolution was approved by the city council.

Later on, the camp of Ai-Ai condemned the resolution of the QC council declaring the comedienne "persona non grata." Her counsel, Atty. Charo Rejuso-Munsayac, said that the video, which was made available online during the campaign period was only a satire. The comedienne's attorney also noted "the city council is nitpicking to find basis to curb freedom of expression."
