According to his mother, while she wouldn’t immediately dismiss her son’s admission as untrue, she doesn’t feel the “impact” of the allegations made.

Pero wala talaga,” Leobert’s mother said.

When asked, Leobert’s younger sister indicated she can’t believe the allegations made because she knew her “kuya” well.

When asked if she believed her "Kuya" can do the dastardly act, she answered in the negative.

Recently, a skull and skeleton fragments, suspected to belong to Jovelyn, were discovered by the police right in the location where Leobert said they abandoned the body.

The said remains were subjected to autopsy, with the results still unknown as of writing.

Jovelyn Gallano is a 22-year old employee working in a mall in Palawan. She went missing on August 5. According to her sister, her employer said that Jovelyn already signed out from her work around 6:30 p.m. on that day. She was still able to chat to her sister but she wasn’t able to go home anymore.

Leobert Dasmariñas, one of the two suspects in the alleged abduction, molestation, and eventual slaying of Jovelyn, denied he took part in molesting of her cousin. He narrated in detail how he and another cousin whom he identified as Jovert Valdestamon, waited for Jovelyn to alight from the multicab she was riding at the time. He then recounted how Jovert, dragged their cousin in a particular location where he did the dastardly act to her. Leobert earlier pointed out to PNP officers the place where they allegedly abandoned Jovelyn's body.

Recently, the Medico Legal Officer of the Puerto Princesa City Health Department, Dr. Eunice Herrera, said that the skeleton attributed to the missing girl Jovelyn Galleno appeared to be questionable. She indicated it is impossible that within two weeks the remains of a deceased person will immediately become a skeleton. She said the body should still be in a state of decomposition because only 18 days have passed. It can be recalled a skeleton was recovered after Jovelyn's cousin, Leobert, surrendered and pointed to the police the place where they allegedly left the body of the girl.
