Andi Eigenmann, 32, took to social media to post the official statement of their family regarding Cherie Gil's unfortunate passing this week.

On Instagram, KAMI learned that several members of the family have also posted and shared the official statement on their respective accounts.

Base on Andi's post, the veteran actress passed away in her sleep on August 5 at 4:48 AM after a battling cancer.

According to their official statement, Cherie was actually diagnosed with a rare form of endometrial cancer.

"Cherie was diagnosed with a rare form of endometrial cancer in October of last year after deciding to relocate to New York City to be closer to her children. She then underwent treatment at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center of New York."

In their official statement, the family mentioned Cherie's earlier request to keep her diagnosis privately and that they supported her decision in doing so.

"It was her request that her diagnosis be kept private, and as a family we supported her in this decision. Cherie fought bravely against her illness, with grace and strength. Despite her struggles, she always managed to exude courage and never lost her trademark sass, wit, and infectious humor, or her larger-than-life personality."

Andi Eigenmann is a Filipina actress and model. She is the daughter of actors Mark Gil and Jaclyn Jose, and is the half-sister of actors Sid Lucero, Gabby Eigenmann and Max Eigenmann. Andi has a daughter named Ellie with her ex-boyfriend Jake Ejercito. She also has a baby girl named Lilo and a baby boy named Koa with her fiancé, Philmar Alipayo.

As previously reported by KAMI, Andi Eigenmann and Philmar Alipayo flew to Indonesia together with their kids. On Instagram, the celebrity mom uploaded several photos they took while they were bound for Indonesia. In her viral post, Andi revealed that their trip had actually been delayed plenty of times due to the pandemic and other matters.
