“Akala n’yo ngongo ako… mongoloid kaya ako,” Ruiz said, appearing to have shocked the hosts and the audience who stopped clapping right away.
Vice immediately stopped the contestant, saying that it was not what he rehearsed.
“Hoy hindi ‘yan ang intro mo no’ng rehearsal ah,” Vice said.
After the intro, the ‘It’s Showtime!’ host immediately issued a disclaimer in order to distance himself, his co-hosts, the show’s staff, and the network from what was said.
“Now, we would like to inform everyone that the views, the opinions, the words of the candidates do not necessarily reflect the views, and the opinions of the hosts, the show, and the network,” the Unkabogable Star said.

Turning to the contestant, Vice said: “Hoy, aminin mo, hindi ‘yon ang ginamit mo sa rehearsal. Bakit ‘yun ang sinabi mo? Baka mapagalitan kami, mag-explain ka.”
Ruiz then apologized to those watching and admitted he just added the said joke in a bid to make the audience laugh. He also said it was not his intention to hurt anyone.
