Aiko Melendez, 46, has finally spoken up about the viral picture of her son, Andre Yllana, which was taken when he was campaigning for his mother.

On Monday, May 2, KAMI learned that Aiko posted the viral photo on her Instagram account and penned a lengthy caption about it.

"Ok, I'm being bashed because of this picture of my son @andreyllana. Ba't daw ako naging Leni-Kiko eh BBM ako," the actress began.

In the said photo, Andre could be seen hugging one of Aiko's supporters, however, a tarpaulin of Leni-Kiko was spotted hanging on a gate.

"Ito po ang simpleng explanation. Nangangampanya po mga anak ko kanina and may gate dun ng supporter namen na maka Leni-Kiko, di ko kailanman ang naging ugali na saklawan ang utak at isip ng aking mga supporters. Kahit sa kapamilya ko kapatid ko maka-Leni, ako maka-BBM, never kami nag-away para sa sino man ang nais namin supportahan."

According to Aiko, she has not switched sides because of her stance and chosen leader. She also mentioned that whatever the results of the elections are, she will respect it.

"Hindi po ako lumipat ng susuportahan po dahil may paninindigan po ako. At kung ano man po ang kakalabasan ng Elections, rerespetuhin namin po yan. Pero wag niyo po ako pigilan ng nais ko supportahan. Nacionalista Party po ako, sa totoo lang po di ko pa nakikilala sila Senator Bongbong Marcos at Inday Sara, pero yun ang paninindigan ko, asa kanila ang aking paniniwala."

Aiko Melendez is a well-known showbiz personality. She received the Best Supporting Actress award in 2018 for her role in the film "Rainbow's Sunset." Aiko ran for and won a seat on the Quezon City Council in 2001. She served for 9 years, until 2010.

As previously reported by KAMI, Aiko Melendez posted online about her recent political rally in Quezon City. She revealed that her talent manager Ogie Diaz expressed his support for her onstage. The actress-politician got touched by Ogie’s support especially because they support different presidential candidates.

Meanwhile, Aiko Melendez has recently trended on social media after helping Mang Felix. Previously, Mang Felix went viral for his humble "taho snack attack" business. On Instagram, Aiko revealed she hired the services of Mang Felix for a much-needed "taho buffet" in her headquarters. She also said that she is now the endorser of Mang Felix free of charge.
