They met at a party in January last year and in February, they went public with their romance.
The following month, specifically on March 30, Derek proposed to Ellen in an emotionally-charged and beautiful event that went viral online.
At the time, when asked about the date of their marriage, the actor did not give a specific date, though said that a wedding is forthcoming and would happen before the year ends.

Some netizens became skeptical, perhaps mainly because there was no mention of a wedding date.
On November 11 of that year, however, Derek kept his word and tied the knot with Ellen in an intimate and epic wedding ceremony on the hills of Rancho Bernardo in Bagac, Bataan.
Their exchange of vows was timed with the setting of the sun, which was visible beyond the expansive outcrop overlooking the sea.
In his recent post, Derek showed the pic of the moment he made the proposal to the startled Ellen and wrote a sweet caption.
“Exactly one year ago I made the best decision of my life. I love you @maria.elena.adarna,” Derek wrote.
While their marriage happened in November of last year, it was only recently that they went on their planned Safari honeymoon in Tanzania, a country situated in Eastern Africa.
Derek Arthur Paggao Ramsay Jr., or simply Derek Ramsay as he is known by many, is a British-Filipino actor, model, and host. He was born on born December 7, 1976 in Enfield, England to British father Derek Arthur Ramsay, Sr., and Filipino mother Remedios Paggao-Ramsay. At the time, his mother was the chief of the housekeeping division of 11 Cadogan Gardens in England while his father worked as an inspector for the police in Scotland Yard. Though he was born in Britain, Derek was raised in Cainta, Rizal. During the 2000s, he worked as an MTV VJ, a commercial actor on TV and as a model. He then went on to play roles in various movies like Habang May Buhay, The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin, I Love You, Goodbye, and No Other Woman.
Recently, Derek's wife, Ellen, jokingly chided a netizen who narrated her dream about being the third party in the actress' married life. Ellen said that she might already be dead in part 2 of her dream.
The actress also took to Instagram Stories and shared how Derek Ramsay takes care of her. She shared a video clip, which showed Derek entertaining Elias on the plane, and where the child could be seen wide awake and very active. The actress made a very sweet caption, which defines how Derek is towards her. She said that one must find a partner who would let you sleep for as long as you can and he would be the one taking care of and entertaining the baby.
