Ana Theresia "Risa" Navarro Hontiveros-Baraquel is a Filipino politician, journalist, and community leader. She was born on February 24, 1966. She won a seat in the Philippine Senate, placing 9th, during the 2016 general elections. Previously, she served as Akbayan sectoral representative in the Philippine House of Representatives from 2004 to 2010.

Among the things mentioned by the senator were being late in closing borders, being late in increasing testing capacity, and a whole lot more. Sen. Risa Hontiveros took to Facebook and narrated her scary experience when the asthma medicines of her bunso stopped working. The senator said that her bunso, Sinta, was immunocompromised and bringing her to the hospital with many COVID cases was enough to give her a scare. She revealed that she tries to be a better mother and senator every day, and while she remains strong, rushing her bunso to the emergency room was a real nightmare. The senator then said that what she went through made her catch a glimpse of the burdens of many women during the pandemic.
